Be my mom’s lover에는 꿈 속에서, 여자와 여자를 지켜보는 나이 지긋한 남자가 있다. 여자는 그 사람이 자신에게 가지는 사랑을 부성이라고 여기고 꿈에서 깨어난다. 누군가가 아버지로서 자신을 사랑하면 그건 가족의 사랑이고, 순수하고 영원하니까. 여기까지가 원곡의 이야기다. 이제 꿈에서 깨어난 둘은 손을 잡고 누추하고 작은 방으로 들어간다. 완전한 비밀은 없는 것이, 그들이 방 안에서 내는 소리는 문 밖으로 새어 나온다. 별의 리믹스는 플라토닉하게 시작한 사랑 이야기를 이렇게 끝낸다. 근데 남자의 신음소리는 왜 안들리는걸까. 듣고 싶다.
there are a girl and a guy-a guy not so young, not so old- in the dream. the way he loves her is the way father would feel for a daughter, she thinks. platonic, therefore it stays forever. this is how the original song ends nd then they wake up from the dream, find a small, rugged place where they can be together without being seen by others. but the sound they make while making love comes through the door, revealing the secret of their relationship, breaking the world the girl’s dream has built. that’s how Byul’s remix closes this story. when it comes to a love story, make it a real affair. by the way, why can’t i hear the sound of the guy? i get curious…

Trampauline “Love me like nothing’s happened before”
Quarkpop frostwork remix
쿼크팝의 리믹스를 들으면서, 나는 이 리믹스가 ‘자신이 쌍방이라고 믿고 있는 사랑의 감정이 자신만이 키워온 환상’이라는 원곡의 어두움에 근접해 있다고 생각했다. 그레고리안 성가풍의 패드와 무겁고 쪼개는 비트, 일그러지는 보컬 이펙팅으로 이 노래는 고딕 러브송으로 다시 태어났다. 노래 속의 열망하는 이는 이렇게 경건한데, 그녀를 굽어보는 미래는 어둡다. 아, 이 리믹스의 이름은 frostwork remix인데, 나의 실수로 시디에 누락되었다.
as I said previously in the introduction of Elena remix, this song is about a dark fantasy conceived by a girl who believes the strong affection she feels for a guy is mutual. quarkpop put a frosty+dark energy in this song of desire with gregorian chant like pad and chopped strong beat, distorted vocal effects. it’s a gothic love song he has brought us.

Trampauline “D.B.R”
Ssighborggg Chopped & Screwed Remix
사이보그의 리믹스는 트램폴린의 어떤 리믹스보다도 원곡에서 멀리 나아간다. 곡은 아주 느린 스텝으로 움직인다. 그에 맞추어 주욱 늘이고 당겨져 형체를 알아볼 수 없는 보컬은 깊은 동굴처럼 아주 먼 곳을 되돌아오는 꼬리가 긴 에코로 존재한다. 단지, D.B.R이 가진 단조의 기운은 그대로 남아 트랙을 지배한다. 나는 이 리믹스를 사운드 트랙으로 생각하는데, 이 트랙이 플레이되는 영화는 프란시스 포드 코폴라의 지옥의 묵시록이다. 붉은 해가 지고 있고, 타지에서 지친 병사들은 붉은 강을 느리게 건너고 있다. 그들은 발목에 족쇄를 차고 저승으로 가는 길목을 건너는 죄수들이다. 아님 블레이드 러너에서 해리슨 포드가 거니는 비 내리는 도시의 골목씬을 그려보는건?
ssighborggg remix pushed itself far from the original, with its slow tempo and stretched vocal track. the vocal is closer to long-tailed echo traveling deep inside a cave rather than singing melody. but, the mood of minor chords which original song contains remains, dominating the mood of the whole track. i take this remix as rather a soundtrack than a remix, maybe it’s the feeling of soundscape and randomness and tempo.. anyways, the movie where this track is being played is “apocalypse now”. exhausted soldiers are crossing the river, the red sun is buring, forests are buring. they are shackled, walking very slowly to the hellgate. or how about picturing harrison ford wandering the rainy city under neon lights in “blade runner”?

Introduction by Trampauline
원곡에는 다양한 소리들의 층이 있다. 비트의 층, 신스의 층에 엔딩 기타의 구불구불한 리듬이 촘촘히 함께 움직이는데, 이걸 만화경같은 빼곡함이라고 해 두고, 로보토미는 이 레이어들을 걷고 심플한 비트와 음압의 볼륨감으로 시원하고 울렁이는 칠아웃 팝을 만들었다. 이 트랙을 듣는 순간만큼은 나도 흔들리는 뱃전에서 시원한 풍광을 마주하며 서 있다.
아, 왜 리믹스 이름이 사라센(saracen mix)인지 물어보는 것을 깜빡했다.
Original song has a lot of layers-layers of beats, synths moving together along with layers of guitar phrases. i would call this “kaleidoscopic-dense-movement”. Lobotomy took those layers out to make nice chill out pop, using simple slow beats and wobbly effects. i listen to it and it feels as if i were on a nose of a swinging boat, facing a sight which is broad and peaceful.
ah, i forgot to ask why the title of the track is “saracen remix”.

바이크 원곡은 비트의 관점에서 잘게 쪼개진 장남감비트들이 오밀조밀하게 여러공간에서 배치되면서 마치 여러각도로 여성이 상대에게 다가가며 작업을 거는것 같은 작업곡이다. 그러다 “오늘밤에 날 너의 집으로 데려가 (투나잇-나잇-)”을 거쳐 비로소 “너에게 작업을 완료”라는것을 알리듯 정리된 정박의 하우스비트가 시작된다. 짧고도 명료한곡을 로보토미 리믹스는 마치 모든 트랙이 베이스에 의한 더킹컴프레싱으로 누르는 느낌으로 시작되며 상대에게 작업을 건다. 킥소리에 의한 사이드체인 컴프레싱에서일 수도 있지만 그런 느낌은 꽤 느린 릴리즈타임을 가지고 진행이 된다. 꽤 남성적인 남성이 상대 여성에게 작업을 걸며 느릿하게 밀고당기기를 하는 것 같지만 넓은공간의 스네어 소리처럼 훅이 공존한다. 즉, 상대에게 밀고 당기기를 하면서 타격감이 있는 스네어 소리처럼 상대에게 스트레이트하기도 한 아이러니가 있다. 남성은 결국 그녀가 넘어가주는 것이란걸 모른채 마지막의 스텝 시퀀스드된 신스소리처럼 심장이 두근거리고있다.

Trampauline “history of love”
Mimyo Dusty Wing Remix
history of love 에서는 고백하는 이가 있고, 위에서 그걸 듣는 천사들이 있다. 천사들은 있을 수도, 없을 수도 있으나, 어쨌든 이건 허공에다 띄운 편지같은 노래다. 처음 Mimyo의 리믹스를 듣고, 하늘 쪽을 향한다는 면에서 원곡과 미묘의 트랙이 연결되어 있다고 느꼈고, 그점을 그에게 이야기했다. 저음부 없이 지글지글한 전자음들은 우주를 떠다닌다. 마치 천사장들이 싸우다가 남긴 날개에서 떨어진 가루들처럼. 그래서 리믹스의 타이틀은 dusty wing remix가 되었다.
“history of love” is a song that is like a shout in the air, or a letter sent it to the sky. i confess, and angels listen. or they just don’t care, whatever. when i heard mimyo’s remix, i felt this connection of ethereality between trampauline’s original and his remix and told him that, and the title of the remix became “dusty wing remix.” the sound is electric and distorted(yet in a shiny way) and dusty, there’s no low based sound, so it’s heavenly. like dust that angels’ wings have sprinkled after fight in the cosmos.

Trampauline “love me like nothing’s happened before”
Woomin a.k.a Elena Mad Rabbit Remix
이 노래는 자신이 상대에게서 느끼는 강렬한 끌림을 상대도 느끼고 있다 (그러나 사실 상대는 그렇지 않은)고 믿는 이의 노래다. 노래를 듣고 이 사람이 믿는 것이 환상이라는 걸 알기는 힘드나, 어쨌든 나는 자신이 만든 환타지에 갇혀 있는 사람을 생각하면서 곡을 만들었다.
에레나의 리믹스에는 그런 아이러니의 그림자를 찾아볼 수 없으며, 순진무구하고 활기차다. 이 트랙은 그녀가 쌓은 묘한 화성과 구불구불한 전개로 기쁨으로 가득찬 노래로 다시 태어났다. 리믹스라기보다 원곡에 햇빛을 쏘아 만든 커버곡이라 생각하고 싶다.
this song is about a girl’s fantasy who believes the strong feeling of affection that she feels for a guy is mutual, which in fact isn’t. although the situation is not shown clearly, she is meant to be trapped in her own fantasy in the original song.
i would call Elena’s version as “sunshine on spotless mind version(some of you might know where i got this expression from)”. here there’s no shadow of irony that i intended to have in the original one. the mood is cheerful and happily exciting. plus there’s a sweet twist in the way the chords and melodies are put and they eventually make the track as a different cover(rather than a remix) and that’s what makes this track enjoyable to me, really.

Anthropology는 음악적으로나 주제로나 세파트로 구성되어 있다.
1.사랑에 빠진 사람들이 인류학을 배우는 사람들이 인간의 원형을 찾아나서듯이 서로를 탐구하고
2.서로의 몸과 마음의 문화가 섞이며 환희를 느끼고
3.그들은 손을 잡고 열대 우림의 심장부로 달려 내려간다.
나는 Swann의 리믹스를 듣고 이 곡에서 그들은 이제 열대 우림의 신비로운 심장부에 들어서 있고, 거기서 무언가를 발견했다고 느끼게 되었다. 탐험 원정을 나가며 우리가 기대할 법한 무언가 순수하고 빛나는 것 말이다.
말하자면 이것은 트램폴린이 만든 3악장의 에필로그이자 4번째 악장인 것이다.
trampauline’s song anthropology consists of 3 parts,
1. lovers search each other like anthropologists search for prototype of humanity,
2. lovers’ high when their culture/bodies/souls are mixed
3. they run disappear into rainforest,
Swann’s track brings me down to the heart of mysterious rainforest that they’ve just entered into, and the track makes me believe that the lovers have found something there, something you would expect from an expedition, pure and gold.
now i see it as an extension of the story i tell in anthropology, or you can call it as the epilogue or part 4 of the song anthropology.

this is why we’re falling(falling falling) for each other
2011년 8월 11월에 발매되는 트램폴린의 2집 앨범 “this is why we’re falling for each other’를 준비하면서, 트램폴린과 프로듀서 은천은 여러 뮤지션들에게 수록곡의 리믹스를 의뢰하였고, 그 결과 7곡의 리믹스 트랙들이 실린 “this is why we’re falling(falling falling) for each other” 리믹스 앨범이 만들어지게 되었습니다. 리믹스 앨범은 앨범과 함께 배포될 예정이나, 앨범 발매 전인 7월 27일 밤부터 저희는 리믹스 앨범의 트랙들을 이 사이트를 통해서 공개하기로 했습니다.
트랙들은 시간 차를 두고 하나씩 공개될 것이며, 7곡 수록곡들의 공개가 다 끝난 후에도 만들어질 새로운 리믹스들의 가능성을 염두에 두고 이 사이트는 오픈되어 있을 것입니다.
트램폴린의 노래들이 어떻게 해석되고 다시 만들어지는지를 트랙을 들으며 느끼는 것이 오랜 기간의 작업 에 지친 저에게 신선한 자극이었습니다. 여러분들에게도 그러하길.
while preparing 2nd album “this is why we’re falling for each other”,which will be officially out in 11th of august, Trampauline and producer eunchurn asked musicians to make remix tracks of the songs in the album, and finally 7 tracks were put together to become a remix album, “this is why we’re falling(falling falling) for each other”.
as hundreds of the copies will be distributed together with trampauline’s albums, we’ve decided to web-release those remix tracks before the actual album release.
each remix track will be introduced one by one, every several days, starting jul, 27th. the site will be open for other remixes to come after those 7 tracks are uploaded.
